For starters, I tend to have more than one book going at the same time. I like to say that I cheat on my books. Usually, I’m working on two books at a time: one novel and one work of nonfiction (though right now I have three books going on). Some people say they can’t have multiple books going on at once because they’d get them confused. This doesn’t happen with me, though I tend to think that’s because I’m reading books that are so drastically different. Sometimes I hate cheating on my books, though. It takes me forever to finish a book. I blame a combination of things for this: I’m reading several books at once but don’t spend any more time reading than I would if I were only reading one; I get distracted by other things like TV or the Internet; I’m a slow reader anyway; I absolutely cannot read with background noise, which means there are a lot of situations in which I cannot read – reading in public, for example, has never worked for me. On the one hand, there’s a part of me that says that taking my time with a book is good in the sense that I get to spend more time savoring it. On the other hand, there’s a part of me that says that if I were really interested in savoring a book, I wouldn’t be working on more than one book at the same time. Reading two or three books at once feels natural to me. Perhaps this is a throwback to my college years when I had to be working on several books at once. In any case, I really like curling up in bed and reading a novel before going to sleep; when I have some time during the day to read I work on some nonfiction. Since I recently rediscovered audiobooks, I’ve started working them into my repertoire as well – I’ll listen to one while knitting.
One of the things I worry about is running out of books to review for bibliogrrrl. You may have noticed that there are reviews here that date back to 2009. That was done intentionally. I know that I read slowly and wanted to have things to post here while I read more. I don’t know what I’m going to do when I run out of content.
Also, I could really use is some decent way of keeping track of what I want to read. I used to use Goodreads to keep track. I got an android phone a few months ago and tried out the Goodreads app, but don’t really like it. Lately, I’ve been using spreadsheets, but I’m not really feeling that either. If you can suggest something that would sync between both my phone and my computer, I’d appreciate it.

I usually have a hard time reading more than one book at a time – unless they are completely different genres. I also have a hard time reading with background noises, although I’m getting more used to it with having kids & pets & other noises. I still can’t completely block everything out like my husband & kids can though!!
I don’t know how you could run out of things to read! I have an almost endless list of books I want to read & it keeps getting longer now that I’m following different book review blogs & getting requests from authors & publishers to review books! I think I’ll have books still on my “to-read” list when I die (which I hope isn’t for years & years & years from now)!
As far as keeping track of books, I have a spreadsheet where I keep track of books I review, but not really for books I want to read. I just signed up for a 100 Books Project where you choose 100 books that you think you should read, but haven’t had the chance yet, and you give yourself 5 years to complete the list (or get at least 75% of them read). Anyway, I made a page on my spreadsheet for those books too just so I can keep track of them. However, I don’t really have a list of other books. I just add things to Goodreads or Bookspy as I come across them. I don’t have an order I want to read them in, so it doesn’t really matter to me as far as keeping track of them. A few years ago, before I knew about Goodreads, I made a list on my computer of different books & authors I wanted to read. I still have the list. I should add those to Goodreads too just so I have them all listed somewhere!
The only thing I can really think of that would sync between the phone & computer would be something like Evernote where you can access your list in both places.
